| Eligibility
Criteria for Admission to B.E. / B.Tech. Degree Course
QUALIFYING EXAM : A pass in in HSC
(Academic) / CBSE / Pre-degree / Plus Two level /
Equivalent with minimum eligibility marks in Mathematics,
Physics and Chemistry.
OR
A Pass with minimum eligibility marks in one of the
HSC (Vocational Stream) with Engineering/
Technology as Vocational subjects and any
one or two of the related Subjects like Mathematics.
Physics or Chemistry
OR
Any other equivalent qualification approved by the
State Board of Technical Education
and Training / Higher Secondary Board
of Tamil Nadu, and Universities in Tamil Nadu.
MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY MARKS :
(a) For SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying
examination will suffice and the minimum
marks are the same as the passing minimum for HSC
and diploma exams of the State of Tamil Nadu.
(b) Candidates belonging to communities
other than SC/ST should have obtained the
following minimum marks as per Tamil Nadu Government
norms.
FORWARD COMMUNITY CANDIDATES
:
For Forward Community candidates from Tamilnadu the
minimum percentage of marks for admission to B.E.
or B.Tech. degree.
1. HSC (academic)/CBSE/pre-degree/Plus Two and other
equivalent examinations :
i) A minimum of 60% in Mathematics
ii) A minimum of 60% in Physics
and Chemistry put together
2. HSC (Vocational) Candidates
i) A minimum of 60% in related
subjects
ii) A minimum of 60% in the vocational
subject, theory and practical put together.
BACKWARD COMMUNITY CANDIDATES
:
a) A minimum of 55% in
Mathematics
b) A minimum of 55% in
Physics and Chemistry
MOST BACKWARD COMMUNITY CANDIDATES
:
a) A minimum of 50% in Mathematics
b) A minimum of 50% of Physics
and Chemistry
CANDIDATES FROM OTHER STATES
:
1. Candidates from other States irrespective
of their community, will be considered
only as OC (other community) for
the purpose of considering the minimum eligibility
marks. All other state candidates who have scored
marks above 60% are eligible.
2. All candidates except CBSE students
who have passed the qualifying exam from other states
should produce an Eligibility Certificate
from Anna University before admission.
(Refer the requirements for eligibility certificates)
NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS :
FC / BC / MBC candidates should have scored the above
marks in not more than 2 appearances and SC / ST candidates
in not more than 3 appearances.
ELIGIBILITY FOR NRI/MINORITY/LAPSED
QUOTA SEATS
A pass in HSC (academic) / CBSE / pre-degree / plus
2 level or equivalent with an average 60%
marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry in single
appearance. Candidates who pass their qualifying examination
through instant / supplemental / Compartmental examination
will not be eligible for admission. All students
must appear for the Common Entrance Test conducted
by the consortium of Recognised Associations of all
Self financing Engineering Colleges in Tamil Nadu.
HSC - VOCATIONAL CANDIDATES
:
Candidates who are qualified with HSC (Vocational
Stream) with Engineering / Technical
Vocational subjects and any one or two of
the related subjects like Mathematics, Physics
or Chemistry are also eligible under
AICTE norms provided they have Passed their qualifying
examinations in SINGLE sitting and
obtained eligibility marks.
DIPLOMA CANDIDATES :
Candidates who qualify with diploma examination are
also eligible provided they have Passed V
and VI semester examinations in single appearance
and obtained marks above 60%.
ELIGIBILITY FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS
:
A pass in XII Std. or equivalent with an average of
60% Marks in Mathematics, Physics
and Chemistry / equivalent grade
in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
They should produce Eligibility Certificate
from the Anna University.
AGE RULES :
Applicants
should not have completed 21 years of age
as on 1st July.
Tamil
Nadu SC/ST candidates : No age limit.
Physically
handicapped candidates should not have completed 26
years as on 1st July.
Tamilian
Repatriates from Burma and Sri Lanka should not have
completed 24 years as on 1st July.
Age shall be determined based only on the
date of birth as given in SSLC / HSC or an Equivalent
examination certificate.
LATERAL ENTRY SCHEME :
(Direct admission to II year B.E. / B.Tech. for diploma
candidates)
Diploma holders from Government
approved institutions with minimum eligibility
marks are eligible for direct admission to
second year of B.E / B.Tech courses.
A pass in the 3 year diploma examination
conducted by State Technical Education
Irrespective of states with a minimum of
60%
marks in the final year examination (for
non - semester pattern)
60%
marks in the fifth and sixth semester examination
(for semester pattern)
